Gabriela Eustatiu, PMP
Project Manager, Principal Investigator

Before coming to this initiative, Gabriela worked as project manager a company specializing in software, hardware and Internet solutions for the retail industry, while previously she worked as project manager in the software development and deployment industry. Fully bilingual, Gabriela's career challenges related to project management provided her with opportunities to interact daily with customers, to make decisions, constantly adapt to new situations with different degrees of difficulty, communicate effectively and mediate conflicts as they appear.

Reflections

By Gabriela Eustatiu

From the start I felt a special excitement about this project. It was a new initiative and any new initiative, especially one involving technology, fits not only my background and experience but also my personal interests. I have gotten to use my project management, communication and customer relationship skills but I also learned about essential skills and about health and safety as it applies in manufacturing.

After attending the final graduating sessions at all Ontario participating companies and seeing the amazing the transformations the students went through in terms of developing their essential skills (specifically oral communication, working with others, thinking, and computer use), while learning a great deal about health and safety, I feel especially grateful that I was given the opportunity to manage this ground-breaking initiative. Online training can be the future and the outcomes of this project are living proof.

Success Stories

Par-Pak Ltd.

While gathering feedback, Gabriela Eustatiu asked David Kelly how he thought the program was going for Par-Pak. David explained that the "associates feel this program has helped them learn much more about the organization's safety culture and how they can use the information that they are learning to educate other co-workers to help continuously improve it. They feel like this training has reinforced the internal responsibility system and their duty to ensure workplace safety. They also feel more comfortable in identifying hazards, taking ownership to eliminate them and then to follow up". David also mentioned that he "can see their enthusiasm every time they leave the training session".

University of Toronto's School of Public Policy and Government: Tony Dean

When Tony Dean was asked for his support on the ESSH project, he wrote that he saw "the ESSH initiative as a model for innovative, relevant and a cost-effective delivery of critical training." Tony felt that based on our ". . . uplifting report, it is obviously making a big and very positive difference." It is terrific to have Tony's support on the ESSH project and we are even more thrilled to share our initiative with you at our regional conferences.

Mobile Climate Control

While attending the last session at Mobile Climate Control, Gabriela Eustatiu was impressed by the group's enthusiasm towards the ESSH project. She noted that when Vice President Bob Kuzminski was present, he commented on the value that Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) was able to bring to his company by collaborating with Workplace Safety and Prevention Services (WSPS) on this new, one-of-a-kind project in Canada funded by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC).
