Reflections Success Stories Participants
Reflections
By Laurie Williams
From what I have observed, the participants appear to view this training seriously, show excitement about the skills that they are learning, and show that they have become more aware of the changes within themselves. It is evident that the participants have changed in the way that they think about workplace health and safety. They are beginning to view themselves as company champions and mentors for health and safety in the workplace, they are proactively identifying health and safety related issues, and are showing more confidence in speaking to co-workers and supervisors about health and safety issues.
These results are just some examples of how the ESSH project has been a positive experience. It is a very exciting project, with a very dedicated and skilled team, and I am happy to be a part of it.
Success Stories
The ESSH program has not only exceeded its goal to help employers and employees better understand health and safety in the workplace, but our program has also helped make these people more cautious and aware of health and safety issues in their everyday lives. As Linh Tram from Purdy's Chocolate Factory in British Columbia explained, "makes me have a broader, wider look at safety instead of just my job. Now, where we walk, we pay more attention. Not just work, but at home, too. I feel more confident to tell co-workers, not new workers, but also older workers, to pay more attention to safety." Based on comments like this, we are confident that the ESSH program will continue to positively impact our participants after the pilot project has concluded.Participants
